Deepwater (population ~450) is a working farm town with one country store and very little tourism infrastructure — that's the appeal. The Deepwater Creek arm runs north out of the main lake body, lined with timber stands and oxbow coves that hold crappie and bass year-round. Higgins Landing on the west side is a USACE ramp that almost never gets crowded even on holiday weekends. Cabin density here is low (a few private rentals + one VRBO), but for anglers who want the quietest water on the lake without sacrificing access, Deepwater is the best-kept secret in the system. Plan to drive 15 minutes to Clinton or 20 to Osceola for restaurants and groceries.
