Cabin Rentals & Things to Do in Osceola, MO

Osceola sits at the south end of Truman Lake where it meets the Osage River. Quieter water, excellent fishing, and a small-town feel — plus the famous Osceola Cheese Store on the way in.

About the area

Osceola anchors the south end of Truman Lake where the Osage Arm meets the main body. Quieter water, trophy crappie, and the famous Osceola Cheese Store. It's the right base for serious anglers, families looking for less crowd, and anyone driving from Springfield or southern Missouri.

Local intel

Osceola (population ~900) is the small-town pole of the lake. Osceola Cheese Co. on Hwy 13 has been operating since 1944 — 275+ cheese varieties, free samples, a working deli, and lines that wrap the building on summer weekends. Sugarfoot BBQ on Hwy 82 is a legitimate destination for smoked ribs and brisket. The Amish Trading Post (also on Hwy 13) is exactly what it sounds like — handmade wood furniture, jam, soaps, baked goods. The Tebo Arm side, around Iconium and the Tightwad/ZZ corridor, holds some of the quietest water on the entire reservoir; this is where Bees Nest Cabins (our flagship founding member) is located. Osage River float trips below the lake are an underrated half-day with a canoe or kayak.

Fishing note

Osceola is a crappie-fishing destination. Protected coves on the south side warm up earliest in spring (you can find pre-spawn fish here a full week before Warsaw). The Tebo Arm holds year-round crappie + bass; the Pomme de Terre Arm is a quiet-water alternative. Trophy bass anglers fish the timber-stand flats. Talley Bend ramp is the quietest in the system — perfect for solo trips.
